Nathan Chasing Horse, an actor who notably starred in the movie He Dances With Wolves, faces an assault charge incident in British Columbia, following a report made to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Keremeos, south of Kelowna.

The 46-year-old was also formally charged in Nevada on Monday for crimes alleged to have occurred in the Las Vegas area beginning in 2012.

According to US authorities, he sexually assaulted young girls and Indigenous women for two decades in several US states. Specifically, he faces charges of sex trafficking, sexual assault of a child under 16, and child abuse.

According to a RCMP Spokesperson Kris Clark an uncertified warrant has been issued for the arrest of Nathan Chasing Horse, which means that once arrested he must be held pending trial in court.

Nathan Chasing Horse starred as Sioux tribesman Smiles a Lot in the Kevin Costner film He Dances with wolves, which won an Oscar in 1990.

Since then, he is said to have established a reputation as a healer among native groups in Canada and the United States. He is charged with abusing that position.

Nathan Chasing Horse has yet to enter a plea in Nevada. He must remain in prison until at least Wednesday, the time to find a new lawyer.

The charges against him have not been proven in court.< /p>
