Learning to love yourself is one of the most powerful and important things you can do do in life
We often see people wrinkle their noses at the mention of self-love, as if it's a bit silly and encourages self-indulgence. But learning to love yourself is one of the most powerful and important things you can do in life. Your heart is your strength, and when you become the source of love in your life, everything changes. Your relationships, your career, your health, they all blossom when you start loving yourself. Loveprojectlove writes about it.
But while we all know deep down that it's important to love ourselves, we notice that people get stuck the most in their own mindsets. As Oscar Wilde once said, “Loving yourself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
So how do we start this romance? How to learn to love yourself? Here are 7 ways you can start practicing the art of self-love right now:
1. Nourish yourself in every way
If you are new to the practice of self-love, start by focusing on nourishing yourself. Nourishing your body is the most basic form of self-love, so this week think about what you put into your body – give it what it loves. Start your day with a green smoothie, treat yourself to a cheese or chocolate snack, and take the time to cook yourself a nutritious dinner full of superfoods. How we eat reflects how we love ourselves. So learn to nourish yourself and you will lay a solid foundation of self-love.
2. Go on a date with yourself
If you've never dated before, make this the month you're dating yourself. One-to-one dating is all about spending quality time with yourself and creating something special just for you. This is one of the most powerful (and fun) things you can do when it comes to practicing self-love. By doing something special for yourself—something you would normally only do with someone else—you give yourself the love and attention you would normally give to others. You are finally turning your love back on yourself. Do anything from grabbing coffee and cake at your favorite coffee shop to a spa weekend.
3. Start a gratitude journal
It has been proven that simply by writing down the 5 things you are grateful for every day, you can train your brain to be more positive, giving yourself an overall sense of happiness. It's a key tool when it comes to practicing self-love because it gets us into a state of gratitude, love, and abundance.
So buy yourself a notebook and at the end of each day next week, write down 5 things you're grateful for and see how nice it is to end your day that way.
And in addition to being grateful for what happened to you that day and the people in your life for whom you are grateful, also include yourself in your gratitude practice. Find at least one thing for which you can thank yourself every day, and you will see how your relationship with yourself will turn into an incredibly loving relationship.
4. Make your body happy
When we learn to love ourselves, it is very important to give a lot of time and attention to our body. What we feel in our body directly affects how we feel. Often feelings of loneliness and lack of love actually stem from our own disconnect with our bodies. You want your gorgeous body to feel energized and full of vitality. So it's important that as part of your self-love routine, you do things that make you feel great in your body; be it yoga, running, 80s aerobics or dancing like Beyoncé.
5. Express yourself
It is very important to find ways to truly express yourself and feel completely yourself. Whether it's dancing, writing, singing, painting, acting, sculpting, cooking, making music, sketching, DJing, pottery or poetry, everyone has something that makes a human being unique. It is often something we did naturally as children. It's always something that makes us feel completely alive.
So what is it for you? When do you feel like you can really let go of the situation and become who you really are? If this is not what you are doing now, then remember the past years. What makes you come alive and really connect with the deepest parts of yourself? Now go and find some time in your life for this. Whether it's unleashing your inner Rihanna on the dance floor, singing like no one is listening, or painting in big, bold strokes, it's just for fun that it's important that you take the time to do things that allow you to truly express yourself from the heart. .
6. Write yourself a love letter
Take a pen and with the same love and tenderness with which you write to a dear friend, write a letter to yourself. Write about the things in your life right now that make you happy and the people in your life that bring you joy, inspiration, and kindness. Think about how you feel, cheer yourself up if you feel you need it, and document your dreams and wishes for the future. If there is something in your life that you are currently struggling with, see what advice and support you can give yourself, celebrate your accomplishments, and sign your letter with love. Then mail this letter and enjoy receiving it in a few days!
7. Plunge into the atmosphere of well-being
We have much more power than we often think to create the feelings we want to experience in life, no matter where we are or what is going on around us. We just need to learn how to use those feelings. The easiest way to do this is to think back to a time in your life when you felt full of joy, happiness, peace, or fulfillment—whatever you wanted—and then find a photo of yourself from that time that actually reminds you of that. you talk about how it felt to feel that way, so much so that you start feeling it again just by looking at the photo.
Now put this photo where you will see it every day: save it as a screensaver on your phone or print it and hang it on your bathroom mirror. Whenever you need to recharge your batteries, take a look at this picture and let yourself be immersed in these pleasant sensations.
