David Harbor stars in a film adaptation of the Gran Turismo video game

Actor David Harbour, who plays Police Chief Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, will be at the heart of a big-screen adaptation of the popular series of motor racing video game Gran Turismo.
The film, produced by Sony and PlayStation Productions, will be directed by South African Neil Blomkamp, who notably signed the sc District 9 social-flavoured ience-fiction, as well as Chappie and Elysium.
Based on a true story, Gran Turismo will follow the story of a gamer whose skills allow him to win a series of video game competitions organized by Nissan in order to become a true racing driver. The feature film is scheduled for release on April 11, 2023.
Launched in 1997, Gran Turismo is one of the most popular car racing video game series, alongside the heavyweights like Need for Speed. These titles have sold over 80 million copies worldwide. The last in the series, Gran Turismo 7, was released in March 2022.
