A woman in her thirties from Sept-Îles died in a swerve that occurred in Schefferville on the night of Friday to Saturday.
The driver, who was traveling westbound on Route de la Mine, reportedly veered off the road on steep terrain.
During this swerve, the passenger suffered serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at a medical facility.
The driver, a man in his 40s, was also seriously injured and was transported to the same medical facility, but does not fear for his life, says the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The auxiliary police officers of the SQ were called to the scene around 1:30 a.m.
< p class="e-p">A blood sample was taken from the driver since alcohol and speed could have played a role in the accident, according to the SQ. An investigation has been opened.
