
Death after 3-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Scarborough
Ontario Provincial Police officers are investigating the collision.
A man died as a result of a Saturday morning three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Scarborough.
The crash occurred on an eastbound expressway toward 9:30 a.m., according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
A 47-year-old driver was approaching Port Union Road when he entered the right lane off the highway, lost control of his vehicle and rolled over.
As the vehicle was moving, it was struck by two other vehicles ahead of it. to come to rest in the middle lane of three lanes, the statement said.
The man was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a fourth vehicle trying to avoid the collision hit a barrier in the same area.
No other injuries were reported.
Ontario Provincial Police officers are investigating the collision.
The eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 were closed at Meadowvale Road for nearly six hours after the crash, but reopened around 4 p.m.
