A former iconic face of France Télévisions breathed his last on Friday, January 10, 2025. On that day, the children of journalist Jean-Luc Petitrenaud announced the death of their father to AFP. The former food critic died at the age of 74. His former colleague, François-Régis Gaudry, paid tribute to him by publishing a photo on his Instagram account.

This is the last time I heard from Jean-Luc Petitrenaud. His daughter Louise Petitrenaud, with whom I filmed our large format Très Très Bon on Parisian bistros, had sent me a few months ago this nice selfie with this proposal of a lunch all three of us. 'When Dad gets better'…“, first wrote the presenter of the show Très Très Bon on Paris Première. On the photo in question, we can see the former France 5 figure alongside his daughter.

François-Régis Gaudry: “I admired this great man with his inimitable cheek”

I am very sad today about this disappearance which leaves a big void in the world of gastronomy. I admired this great man with his inimitable cheekiness. I never missed his TV shows Carte postale gourmande and Les Escapades de Petitrenaud. I rubbed shoulders with him happily in the corridors of Europe 1 while I was taking my first steps in radio with Jérôme Bonaldi. And I even replaced him in the restaurant pages of L’Express in 2006…“, also added François-Régis Gaudry.

Farewell dear Jean-Luc, hats off to the artist, and thank you for having defended French cuisine and food crafts with such good humor! My sincere condolences to his children Louise and Antonin, his family, his loved ones and all those, very many, who loved him…“, finally concluded the one who also officiates on the France Inter channel every week.

Jean-Luc Petitrenaud: his show was cancelled by France 5 for economic reasons

During his career as a culinary journalist. Jean-Luc Petitrenaud notably worked for Europe 1, L'Express, and Sud Radio. But he was mainly known for having presented the show called Les Escapades de Petitrenaud on France 5. It was in 2017 that the host was édismissedé from the public channel.

I will not return to the air. Because the show is ending definitively at the end of March. It is not my fault. But a demand from France 5 which wants to make drastic savings. And this to the detriment of the heritage“, Jean-Luc Petitrenaud had then revealed in the columns of the magazine Télé Star. “For now, I'm going to bounce back in the written press. I'm going to collaborate with the newspaper La Montagne. And I'm getting ready to release a novel”, he then added.
