Devotion: a warrior trailer between Dunkirk and Top Gun: Maverick

After Top Gun: Maverick, Glen Powell will once again play a pilot in Devotion, a Korean War film that was revealed in a sensational trailer.< /p>

Raising over $1.3 billion worldwide, Top Gun: Maverick is the biggest hit of the year so far. worldwide box office, far ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Jurassic World: The World Afterwhich have not yet managed to exceed one billion. This mind-blowing score proves two things, that Tom Cruise is still popular and so are airplane movies, maybe even as much as the (best) train movies.

And just as Bullet Train is about to hit theaters, Sony's next big release will be Devotion, a feature film that places the aviation at the heart of his story. Directed by J.D. Dillard, Devotion adapts the novel of the same name by Adam Mako in which the author tells the (true) story of Jesse Brown, the first African-American aviator of the United States Navy, and his teammate Tom Hudner, two heroes of the Korean War. Only a few weeks after discovering him as Jake aka Hangman in Top Gun 2, Glen Powell is back in action in the impressive trailer for Devotion. p>

After playing a capricious pilot in the sequel to Top Gun, the actor, who we've already seen in Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some!! and in the series Scream Queens, plays the war hero Tom Hudner, colleague then friend of Jesse L. Brown. It is actor Jonathan Majors who will therefore play the African-American pilot who has become an aviation legend, after having starred in the surprising Lovecraft Country and soon interpreted Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel universe. .

With its embedded shots and subjective points of view, the Devotion trailer obviously recalls some shots from Top Gun 2, which blew away even unseasoned audiences, thanks to his virtuosity. But in addition to presenting us with machines that fly very quickly, the film promises to take an interest in poignant questions such as those of racism, duty and above all friendship, stronger than everything in time of war.

In addition to this duo, we will also find actors Thomas Sadoski, Joseph Cross and Daren Kagasoff but also actress Christina Jackson, who Camps the wife of Jesse Brown and Joe Jonas, one of the singers of the Jonas Brothers, whose appearance recalls that of Harry Styles in Dunkirk.

The photography was entrusted to Erik Messerschmidt, David Fincher's faithful cinematographer since Gone Girl (he also received the Oscar for best photo for the magnificent Mank) and whose work is patiently awaited on The Killer, which should soon arrive on Netflix. As sensational as it is poignant, the trailer for Devotion is already making our mouths water. If the film does not yet have a French release date, it will land in American theaters on November 23, 2022.
