Many people were worried about her.
This girl's name is Rasa Prascevichyute. 38 years ago, a terrible event happened. Her father ran her over with a lawnmower, depriving the girl of her legs. She was immediately taken to Moscow, where, for the first time in the history of the Soviet Union, an operation to stitch limbs was performed, Ukr.Media informs.
The tragedy happened in Lithuania in 1983. Rasa and her sister were playing hide and seek. The first decided to hide in the field of the collective farm, because of her small height she really could not be seen. However, Ras was not noticed not only by his sister, but also by his father, who was mowing the field at that time. For example, the father accidentally ran over his daughter, severing her limbs.
The doctors concluded that it was impossible to perform the operation in the city due to the lack of necessary equipment. In Lithuania, doctors also refused to undertake such a complex operation. Meanwhile, the girl needed help immediately.
Yes, Rasa was urgently transported to Moscow. There, surgeon Ramaz Datiashvili undertook the operation. The doctor, despite the initial task of “just sewing” feet, without returning the functionality of the legs, decided on replantation, which would allow to "revive" girl's feet The operation lasted 9 hours, there was little hope for an ideal result, but a miracle still happened.
A few hours after the operation, the doctor touched the girl's feet and felt warmth, which said about restoring blood circulation. It was the first limb replantation operation in the USSR, and it was successful.
The entire Soviet Union learned about the rescued girl. Many people were worried about her, sent her gifts and letters with words of support. Despite the success of the operation, the girl had several weeks of rehabilitation, during which Rasi had to learn to walk again.
Prascevichyute race is now 41 years old. She lives in Germany and is completely happy. Rasa is surrounded by a beloved husband and three children. The woman prefers not to remember a terrible event from her childhood and considers herself completely healthy. At the same time, she remembers and honors the work of the doctors who brought her back to life. He expresses special thanks to Ramazu, whom he even calls his "godfather".
Even with all the desire, Ras does not remember much about the tragedy. The walls of the hospital, the face of the surgeon – probably all that remains in the memory. Now she is not bothered by any problems with her legs, Rasa even likes to go jogging in the company of her husband. And only the scars on her legs occasionally remind her of what happened.
