Exactly a month ago, the DART device collided with Dimorph and was able to change its orbit around Didyma, as I already wrote Focus. Even though the craft changed the orbit of a smaller asteroid, 160 meters in diameter, it also had to change the orbit of Didymus, 780 meters in diameter, around the Sun.

It is these observations of stellar eclipses, when Didymus covers the stars, that will help scientists determine for several years how the collision affected the movement of the entire binary asteroid system around our star.
