Edmontonian accused of human trafficking arrested in British Columbia

The suspect has returned to Edmonton after being arrested in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Edmonton man charged with kidnapping a 19-year-old woman years to force him into prostitution was arrested in British Columbia after evading law enforcement for over a year.

He was arrested on Dec. 27 in Burnaby.

Edmonton police say the suspect's charges include human trafficking and assault with a weapon lo rs of facts dating back to 2021.

The suspect allegedly violently assaulted his victim in a motel in Edmonton in March 2021 before being arrested on the spot. He then allegedly attacked the same woman at another motel in August.

Following this incident, the woman managed to escape from a motel room in which she had been kidnapped and injured.

The man, who had been ordered to appear in court in August 2021, had not appeared in court.< /p>

A Canada-wide warrant was then issued.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested the suspect after learning that the suspect was arrested. he lived in Burnaby. The man was handed over to authorities in Edmonton.
