Nissan (we are eagerly awaiting their future affordable electric sports car) and Honda plan to collaborate in the field of electric vehicles. According to information reported in this daily article Nikkei Asia, this partnership would encompass several aspects of production: joint technology developments, purchasing, etc. For what purpose ? Well, very logically, to face Chinese competition.

Shared ambitions for an electrifying future ?

This potential alliance between these two automobile giants’ ;#8217;part of a more global strategic approach by Japanese manufacturers: respond to the very rapid rise of Chinese manufacturers on the market . When we see what the manufacturer BYD is capable of offering and its impressive results from the previous year, we must, in fact, roll up our sleeves.

BYD is just an example and Chinese manufacturers with high potentialare quite numerous: Geely, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, NIO or Xpeng Motors.

After reviewing its alliance with Renault, Nissan now seems ready to open up to a new collaboration; this time, it will be with Honda. For the moment, the precise details of this partnership still remain very vague, neither of the two manufacturers wished to comment on the question for now. We can imagine that the overall objective would be to pool efforts in the development of the EV sector.

A reinforced synergy despite the history with Renault

Even if the historic Renault-Nissan alliance has been overhauled, the two brands will continue to collaborate closely in the field of electric, particularly on the Old Continent. Nissan's future EV models (the Leaf, the Qashqai and the Juke) will be built on the platform common to the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance: the CMF-EV (Common Module Family &# 8211; Electric Vehicle).

The possibility of this new partnership does not prevent Nissan from maintaining investments in Renault, and more particularly Ampère, the manufacturer's new electrical division. Indeed, Nissan has planned an envelope of 600 million euros for the latter.

Long-time competitors, Nissan and Honda could finally walk hand in hand. There is no denying that Chinese competition has the gift of provoking changes within the automobile industry! There is strength in numbers, it seems.

  • Nissan and Honda plan to’ establish a new partnership.
  • Even if no precise information is currently known, this new collaboration aims to resist Chinese competition.
  • Despite this, the partnership between Renault and Nissan is still relevant and the two brands will continue to collaborate.
