First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska is visiting the United States, during which she will address Congress and hold meetings with senior American politicians, the BBC reports.
On July 18, she met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and on July 19 she spends with US First Lady Jill Biden.
Her speech on Capitol Hill is scheduled for July 20 .
Elena Zelenskaya and Jill Biden meet for the second time. The first was in May, when the wife of the American president paid an unexpected visit to Kyiv.
Zelenskaya does not hold any official post in the Ukrainian government, but during the four-plus months of the war, she has been actively engaged in dialogue with politicians and public organizations at her level and journalists.
Kyiv is using every opportunity to get as much Western aid as possible.
Four months ago, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also appealed to Congress with an appeal provide Kyiv with additional military equipment.
After the Russian invasion, the US Congress approved an unprecedented $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.
Most of this amount is intended for military needs, the rest – for the restoration of infrastructure.
The entire volume should arrive in Ukraine by the end of September.
During the visit, Olena Zelenska also met with the head of the US Agency for International Development, Samantha Power.
< p>The agency has committed billions of dollars to support the government of Ukraine and to humanitarian causes, as well as to fight the global food shortage caused by Russian aggression.
