Did Astrid really sacrifice herself?

This is probably the biggest question fans have after watching the final episode of season one ofEquinox ! And for good reason, in the last scene we see Astrid go to the mysterious island where twenty years earlier her sister Ida participated in a strange pagan rite in honor of the goddess Ostara. It is there that she faces Henrik and returns his notebook stolen by Jakob during his youth. Then, the young woman joins her sister Ida on the other side of the shore in a heavenly vision, a serene air and a smile on her lips. A staging that suggests that the latter was finally sacrificed to allow the souls of the poor student prisoners to be released, without offering any certainty.. In fact, it is possible that Astrid preferred to let go of everything and leave a world that never accepted or understood her to rest in peace with her sister; as it is plausible that all this is only the fruit of a fantasized dream.

Are Astrid and Ida the daughters of Henrik?

If Astrid’s mother ends up revealing to him that she and Ida are Ostara’s daughters and sisters, is it possible that they are therefore Henrik’s daughters? Indeed, Lene who could not get pregnant preferred to make a pact with the demon by promising him to return her child to him on his eighteenth birthday. This is how Ida was born. As for Astrid, Lene never utters the word pact but the young woman understands that her mother has never given birth to her when she finds an old photo. An obvious family link with Henrik would explain why Ida was chosen by Ostara and especially why Astrid had prophetic visions related to her sister. On the other hand, it makes the coupling between Henrik and Ida even more murky!

Did Astrid’s father know about the pact?

The previous question brings us to this next point: Was Ida and Astrid’s father aware of the pact his wife had made with Henrik? Everything in the series suggests that no yet, it seems really strange that the latter raised two children without seeing that his partner never got pregnant. Definitely, it is hard to believe that the latter was not involved more than that in Lene’s supernatural shenanigans!

What will become of the released students?

The first season ofEquinox ends with a very strange picture. While Astrid seems to have sacrificed herself to join her sister in another reality, we see curious figures crossing a field. Are these the former students who had disappeared at the same time as Ida twenty years earlier? If so, they don’t look like they’ve aged, which will most likely sow panic in the small Danish town.. Not to mention they now look like zombies way The Walking Dead, trapped between life and death and zigzagging slowly and haphazardly through the ears of wheat. Not sure that this vision pleases the living!
