The victims were carrying out work in a milk tanker used to collect maple sap.
Two men in their sixties died on the ground of a maple grove in La Trinité-des-Monts, in the MRC of Rimouski-Neigette, in Bas-Saint-Laurent, on Saturday.
They were found lifeless inside a cistern. Emergency services, called to the scene on chemin de la Rivière-Verte Ouest around 5:30 p.m., attempted resuscitation maneuvers.
The two men were transported to a hospital center, where they were declared dead, specifies the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Stéphane Tremblay.
The victims were carrying out work in a tank truck at milk, which was used to collect maple sap.
According to initial observations, it could be monoxide poisoning carbon, says Sergeant Tremblay.
An investigation by the Sûreté du Québec is underway, in collaboration with the coroner's office. The CNESST has also been notified.
