EU approves sanctions against Iran due to Ukraine attack by kamikaze drones – media

According to a European diplomat who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity, the restrictions affected the drone company and officials persons associated with the Iranian Ministry of Defense.
EU ambassadors imposed sanctions against Iran due to attacks by the Russian Armed Forces on Kyiv, during which Iranian kamikaze drones were used. It is reported by DPA News Agency.
It is known that in the future the oral decision will be approved by the written procedure. After that, the document will be published on Thursday, October 20.
In addition, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing a European diplomat who spoke with the editors on condition of anonymity, published information about who will be affected by the new sanctions.
“Sanctions have been approved against three people and a drone manufacturer,” the diplomat told the agency.
The sanctions list includes:
- Shahed Aviation Industries – designer and developer of Shahed strike UAVs;
- Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri;
- Commander of the Aerospace Corps of the Islamic Revolution Guards Syed Aghajani and Hojatol Ghoreishi (responsible for logistics to the Iranian Ministry of Defense);
“A secret series of drones was delivered to the Russian Federation, it is used in an aggressive war against Ukraine. Therefore, Shahed Aviation Industries is responsible for supporting the government of the Russian Federation, responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilization of Ukraine,” the European diplomat explained the criteria by which the sanctions list was formed. /p>
Note that Iran strongly denies the supply of weapons to the Russian army and calls such information part of the propaganda campaign of the West. Tehran even expressed readiness to talk with Ukraine about this.
