Sydney Sweeney, the 25-year-old star of the cult series Euphoria, has been cast as Barbarella in the film of the same name. Deadline writes about this.

Sidney will have to work hard to play as well as Jane Fonda, who played this role in the classic film by Roger Vadim in 1968.

Barbarella became a landmark role for Jane Fonda, who at that time was very insecure and suffered from bulimia.

“I was young and wanted him to teach me how to be a woman, so he taught me to imitate women,” she said about the shooting, mentioning that Vadim was incredibly sexy and could charm literally anyone.

Roger Vadim had six wives, Jane became the third. But shooting in “Barbarella” became a test for her. Before her, the role was offered by Bridget Bardot and Sophia Loren, but they refused, and preparing for filming, Jane usually got drunk to feel more confident.

The film came out scandalous and frank, the image of Barbarella is iconic, and her costumes inspired Paco Raban – inspired fashion designers for many years.

Jane Fonda hated the deliberately erotic film for years, however, as she later admitted, she learned to love it and her role in it.

For now, about the new Nothing is known about the film other than that, like Roger Vadim's original, it will be based on a series of French comics by Jean-Claude Forest. And he will talk about how the brave Barbarella in the 41st century fights the evil scientist Duran Duran, constantly getting into funny situations.
