Accident deadly at Stoneham: charges could be laid

The frontal collision was violent on the Laurentian highway.

A man in his forties lost his life Sunday evening in a violent head-on collision on the Laurentian highway.

The accident occurred a little after 9:30 p.m. near Stoneham. The driver involved in the collision, a man in his 50s, turned the highway in the opposite direction, traveling northbound in the southbound lane.

The head-on collision took place on the Laurentian Highway in Stoneham.

Alcohol could be involved in this accident. The oncoming motorist suffered minor injuries. Blood samples were taken from him.

The man is expected to appear at the Quebec City courthouse on Monday to face a charge of impaired driving causing death .

The Laurentian Autoroute was closed to southbound traffic until 3 a.m. Sunday through Monday while police investigate.
