Fatal work accident at Causapscal
Two CNESST investigators were dispatched to the scene to understand the circumstances of the accident.
A worker lost his life accidentally during the night from Monday to Tuesday at the& #x27;Cedrico lumber factory in Causapscal.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the events occurred around 3:45 a.m. while the employee was busy in the factory. The victim is a 60-year-old man who lives in the area.
His death was pronounced at the Amqui hospital. The police are expected to reveal his identity in the next few hours.
The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) has dispatched investigators on site following a call received very early on Tuesday morning.
A worker was fatally injured overnight at the Cédrico at Causapscal.
Isabelle Gosselin, communications manager for southeastern Quebec at the CNESST, indicates that the accident occurred while the worker was repairing the log lift .
The inspectors, she says, are collecting the facts and analyzing the chronology of events.
The employer and the workers will be met. The inspectors could stay on site for a few days.
For his part, the director of operations and workforce development for Bois d'oeuvre Cédrico , Harold Bérubé, wished to offer his sympathy to the family and colleagues of the victim.
The big Bois d'oeuvre Cédrico family is in shock, said Mr. Bérubé. We are collaborating with the CNESST investigator.
Factory activities have been suspended until further notice.
According to Ms. Gosselin, CNESST accident reports are filed within six months of an event.
The SQ for its part dismisses any criminal element in this case.
