Finland has started medical evacuation and treatment of patients from Ukraine. This was announced on Friday, July 22, by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of the country, writes Yle.
It is reported that the transportation of patients is carried out through the EU civil protection mechanism, under which more than 700 Ukrainian patients were assisted.
The publication notes that only a few of those who suffered in Ukraine from Russian aggression have so far been delivered to hospitals in Finland.
According to Krista Luyur, a specialist from the Finnish Ministry of Welfare and Health, the country's capabilities are limited due to the difficult situation in the healthcare system, caused, in particular, by a shortage of workers.
The decision to transport patients adopted in cooperation between Ukraine and EU countries. In Finland, the ministry and medical districts jointly assess the possibility of receiving patients.
Details of the transfer of patients are not disclosed to ensure the safety and confidentiality of operations.
