In Switzerland has sentenced a former Ukrainian MP Mykola Martynenko. For money laundering in Switzerland Martynenko was sentenced to 28 months in prison, including 12 months unconditional serving.
As Radio Liberty reports, the decision was made by the Federal criminal court of Switzerland. Martynenko convicted of laundering approximately 2.8 million euros through the purchase Swiss real estate, other valuable assets in order to legalize funds received in Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
Similarly, was found guilty of one more citizen of Ukraine Pavlo Skalenko, wanted by Ukrainian investigative authorities. It was held in the same case that Martynenko, and in Switzerland, was sentenced to 24 months in prison.
Lawyers for Martynenko in Switzerland will appeal the decision in the appeal.
We will remind, the former Deputy Martynenko 2016 is under investigation in Ukraine. Ex-MP is suspected of misappropriation of funds of “Energoatom” and state enterprise “Eastern mining-processing combine”.In 2015, Martynenko resigned.
