Fort Good Hope, NWT: Fatal attack suspect has surrendered and been arrested

The charges that will be brought against Thaddeus McNeely have not yet been determined.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in the Northwest Territories announces that the suspect allegedly involved in a series of stabbings in Fort Good Hope, which left one dead and at least two injured, surrendered without incident Thursday.

Thaddeus McNeely, 24, has been arrested and will be remanded in custody, RCMP said in a statement Thursday evening. Police had been looking for him for two days.

Residents of Fort Good Hope can expect to see the continued arrival of police officers in their community; Officers establish a security perimeter around the crime scene, collect evidence and continue their investigation, the statement read.

At a press conference on Wednesday, police asked the public to be vigilant, after a turbulent night in the community in the Sahtu region, where at least three people were attacked.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the local RCMP at 867-598-1111.
