The adversity and the stakes will rise several notches for the French handball team in the main round of the Handball World Championship, which it will begin on Tuesday in Varazdin (Croatia) against Hungary in a strong position, the only team in its group with the maximum points.

The Netherlands' defeat on Sunday against Hungary (36-32) at the end of Group D is indeed good for Les Bleus: they are alone at the top of Group II (4 pts), one length ahead of the Hungarians and two ahead of the Dutch and the Austrians.
