France to hand over Caesar howitzers promised to Denmark to Ukraine – media
the result of long negotiations between the French, Ukrainian and Danish leaders.
France intends to send to Ukraine from six to 12 of the 15 Caesar self-propelled artillery units requested by Kyiv, cutting the order of Denmark. This was reported by Le Mond on Saturday, October 1.
It is noted that the relevant negotiations between French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen lasted in recent weeks.
The media emphasizes that the operation is unprecedented for Paris, since Copenhagen ordered 15 Caesar SPGs back in 2015, increasing the order by four units in 2019.
After all, the newspaper writes, the Danes agreed to abandon some of the weapons, especially since they do not fully meet the specifications they ordered.
Recall that Ukraine has already received 18 Caesar self-propelled guns from France. However, according to the latest data from the Office of the President, the Ukrainian army needs 200 howitzers to continue the successful conduct of hostilities.
