A closed but significant case

Accused of rape in July 2023, Frédéric Beigbeder saw the case closed without further action on July 26, 2024, due to the lack of serious or concordant evidence, as specified by the Pau prosecutor's office. However, this judicial episode had a profound impact on the author, known for his outspokenness and his provocations.

In an interview published on January 12, 2025, the writer confides that this case forced him to a work of introspection. “I wanted to stay in the implicit. I don't talk about the case at all in the book, yet it is omnipresent. It is this case that forced me to work on myself…”, he explains.

Adultery and control: deep reflections
