The average age of a used car on the market in Ukraine has decreased from 17.4 to 14.8 years. Used cars from Europe began to slowly replace old VAZs.

Free customs clearance affected the structure of the Ukrainian car market. Thanks to her, the fleet of Ukraine has rejuvenated a little. This is evidenced by the data of the Institute for Automotive Research.

Experts analyzed thousands of ads for the sale of used cars. If at the beginning of the year the average age of cars put up for sale was 17.4 years, then at the end of June it dropped to 14.8 years. That is, there are more fresh cars on the market, which were brought from Europe or America and cleared for free.

It turned out that cars of 2005-2008 are sold most of all in our country: their market share increased from 26.3% in February to 28.4% in June. At the same time, there are fewer old cars over 30 years old – their share has fallen from 11.6% to 7.8%.

In addition, the structure of the market has changed in the context of the brands represented on it. So, Toyota cars on sale immediately increased by 35.3%, BMW – by 30.9%, and Audi – by 29.5%. At the same time, the number of VAZs decreased by 28.5%. It turns out that 10-15-year-old used cars from Europe are gradually replacing the old Ladas.

How the share of the most popular brands in the used car market has changed in 2022:

    < li>Volkswagen — +6.1% (from 13.4% to 13.9%);
  1. VAZ — -28.5% (from 13.2% to 9.3%);
  2. Renault – -5% (from 6.9% to 6.4%);
  3. Opel – -6.1% (from 6.8% to 6.3%);

    The trend will obviously continue, although on a significantly smaller scale, because used cars continue to be imported to Ukraine even after the abolition of free customs clearance. According to People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 13,584 of them were brought in in July and the budget received 1.72 billion hryvnias of customs payments.
