Tomorrow, October 1, the so-called “winter” edition of the SDA of Ukraine comes into force. This means that drivers again need to turn on the dipped headlights or running lights, not only at night, but also during the daytime.
Item 9.8 of the Rules of the Road requires all motor vehicles to move with the lights on during the autumn-winter period. dipped headlights or running lights outside built-up areas. This requirement is valid from October 1 to May 1 and is not canceled during martial law.
Thanks to the included lighting devices, the detection distance of a car in poor visibility conditions (rain, fog, twilight) is increased. In winter, the daylight hours are shorter, so it is always necessary to turn on the dipped headlights outside the city. If this does not improve visibility, then it is recommended to use high beams or fog lights, but only if they do not blind drivers of oncoming cars.
Violators of clause 9.8 of the traffic rules of Ukraine face punishment. The fine for not turning on the dipped beam in Ukraine ranges from 425 to 510 hryvnia.
