    The discovered unique star has such a magnetic field strength that physicists have never seen before.

    An international team of scientists using the space X-ray observatory Insight-HXMT were able to find out that a pulsar called Swift J0243.6 + 6124 is the absolute record holder for the strength of the magnetic field in known space. The strength of its magnetic field is 1.6 billion Tesla, which is 600 million Tesla more than previous holders of a similar record, according to ScienceAlert.

    Thanks to a burst of active radiation from the only ultra-bright pulsar in the Milky Way, Swift J0243.6+ 6124 scientists managed to find out that this star has the strongest magnetic field in the known Universe.

    This pulsar is located in our galaxy at a distance of 22 thousand light years from Earth. And before that, scientists have not observed such a strong magnetic field, which would have a strength of 1.6 billion Tesla. Prior to this, the GRO J1008-57 and 1A 0535+262 pulsars, whose magnetic field strength is approximately 1 billion Tesla, were considered champions.

    To further understand what a 1.6 billion Tesla magnetic field is, take a look at your favorite fridge magnet. The strength of its magnetic field is approximately 0.001 Tesla. And for MRI machines, this figure is about 3 Tesla.

    Chinese and German scientists, using the Insight-HXMT space X-ray observatory, decided to turn their attention to the Swift J0243.6+6124 pulsar in order to study its magnetic field.< /p>

    Pulsars are a type of neutron stars that are very dense objects that constantly release streams of X-rays. It is in such superdense objects, which rotate around their axis at an incredibly high speed, that they can have a strong magnetic field.

    The pulsar Swift J0243.6+6124 also has another unique feature – it is the only such star in our galaxy that has a companion star belonging to the stellar type Be. These stars are very hot and also rotate very fast. The pulsar with the strongest magnetic field in space absorbs the material of this star, which enhances its X-ray fluxes.

    Pulsars such as Swift J0243.6+6124 consist of atoms so strongly compressed that it is impossible to create such an environment on Earth and, accordingly, achieve such unique magnetic field strengths. A few years ago, physicists in terrestrial conditions managed to achieve a magnetic field strength of only 1200 Tesla. And this field had such an indicator of only 100 microseconds.

    As for other cosmic discoveries, as Focus already wrote, scientists have recorded the strange behavior of a black hole. It turned out that these objects may not completely absorb passing stars and most of the stellar matter can form a cloud that moves at a very high speed.
