Bertrand Blier's funeral was marked by several events. First, a montage of the most famous lines from the dialogue writer was broadcast. A cult phrase from Valseuses was then taken up by the priest of the Saint-Roch parish.
Indeed, to begin his homily, Father Luc Reydel decided to quote a famous line from Gérard Depardieu. “We're not comfortable there, relaxed the spirit ?” launched the artists' chaplain. And to continue in this regard: “Rabelaisian reply from a man to both mocking and tender-hearted who has known four generations, of technicians, actors and spectators”.
Gérard Depardieu did not attend at the director's funeral
The line taken up by Father Luc Reydel would have made Bertrand Blier laugh. It would also have certainly amused Gérard Depardieu. The star actor of Valseuses was however conspicuous by his absence at the funeral. He had however filmed eight times with the director. The latter had recently testified to him of his support by signing the column “Don't erase Gérard Depardieu”.
Despite the absence of the actor, many celebrities és were present at Bertrand Blier's funeral. Albert Dupontel and Jean Dujardin carried his coffin, a strong gesture towards his family. Edouard Baer, Claude Lelouch, Dominique Besnehard, Bernard Murat, Josiane Balasko, Catherine Jacob, Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi and Karine Silla also paid tribute to him. His burial should take place in privacy at the Montmartre cemetery.
