As it retires in 2019, the HBO series Game of Thronesone of the biggest television successes in history (all platforms combined) has disappointed many fans… We can even say that it joins the Pantheon of the most controversial end of series. The arrival of a spin-off centered on the family of Daenerys Targaryen (170 years before the events of the original saga) is certainly an opportunity to forget this criticized last season… And for now , it seems that the result is promising. We review the first reviews.

“The pilot of House of the Dragon effectively explains his relationship to the rest of Game of Thrones, introduces its main characters, and establishes the series' central conflict. It's an easy-to-follow start, with lots of texture and vivid color. So far, a very worthy successor.” – Brandon Katz, The Wrap

“I didn't like the last season of Game of Thrones. At all. But I admit that the first episode of the series House of the Dragon is very well done and one that I will continue to watch. At the end of the episode, they released a trailer for the rest of the season, which looks cool.” – Steven Weintraub, Collider
