To create this colorful culture, scientists mixed a bucket of dirt from a pond in Golden Gate Park along with eggs and toilet paper. A low-maintenance exhibit that can live and thrive indefinitely – all it needs is sunlight and the occasional addition of water.

More details:Shifting the Silence features the dynamic work of thirty-two artists who use a radical abstract language. They want to improve our understanding of the world we live in. The exhibition features recently acquired works by Fairley Baes, Nairi Bagramian, Liz Hernandez, Cynthia Marcel, Tanya Perez Cordova, Lorna Simpson and Hege Young. This experiential exhibition of works created over the past quarter of a century includes sculpture, photography, textiles, video and painting.
