The second is, according to the media, an ex-lieutenant-colonel of the Bundeswehr, commander of a battalion of paratroopers in the 1990s and founder of a commando of the x27;Special Forces Unit (KSK).

Other soldiers are involved in the plot, including one who still serves and is a member of the KSK, said Defense Department spokesman Arne Collatz.

Another protagonist, the Russian Vitalia B., identified by the German press as being the companion of Henry XIII, has, according to the prosecutors, served as an intermediary in an attempt to contact the Russian authorities with a view to x27; possible support.

The Kremlin for its part firmly denied on Wednesday any Russian interference in this affair.

The authorities also arrested a magistrate, Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, a former member of the far-right AFD party who sat in the Bundestag from 2017 to 2021.

Without naming her directly, prosecutor Peter Frank said that a former member of the Bundestag was approached for the justice portfolio in the conspiracy government.

Proceedings have been initiated for the resign from his position as a judge in Berlin.
