The military command of the Russian Federation believes that monks are citizens like everyone else. Priests were allowed to go to the front only as confessors.

The Russian military command can call on monks as part of the mobilization if they have a military ID. This was reported to the RBC agency on hotline 12 for informing about mobilization.

Specialists assured that all Russian citizens who are in the army reserve are subject to mobilization.

“If a monk has a military the ticket is in hand, which means he is in reserve. Even if he has never served, but has a military ID in his hands, he can be called up for partial mobilization. He is a Russian citizen like everyone else, “the hotline explained.< /p>

Will the priests go to war?

Vakhtang Kipshidze, deputy head of the synodal department for relations between the church, society and the media, said in a conversation with the Daily Storm that Russian priests have the right to participate in the war unleashed by Russia without weapons in their hands and as confessors.

“Priests serve in the army as military priests This is the only opportunity for them to participate in the military operation,” Kipshidze said.

Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy, doctor of theology Alexei Osipov stressed that the clergy are forbidden to take up arms to kill people. They are used at the front as “doctors of the soul” of the invaders.

“Christ is risen and you will rise again”

Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill Gundyaev called on believers to “spiritual mobilization”.

“Many are rebelling against Russia, and many are dizzy in the desire to destroy Russia, its identity, its independence, its freedom. And therefore we must today especially strengthen ourselves in the faith,” he said.

Kirill said that one should not be afraid to go and kill Ukrainians, because ” Christ is risen and we will rise.” If the invader dies in the war, then he “will be with God”, because he “defended” his country.

Gundyaev spoke about the forgiveness of all sins to those who fight in Ukraine and are “engaged in a righteous cause.” Kirill's concepts are similar to the Islamic concept of “shaheed” – a martyr for the faith, who is promised paradise after death, the media noted.

Patriarch Kirill also believes that the Ukrainian people are in danger, but did not specify from whom. He urged Russians to pray for the unity of the Church and the strengthening of “fraternal feelings”.
