Objects unusual for the planet continue to fall into the lens of the Perseverance rover.
This week, the NASA Perseverance rover sent to Earth another batch of photographs of the surface of the Red Planet. One of the images captured an object clearly alien to the planet, which looks like a half-eaten portion of spaghetti or a ball of rope, writes Cnet.
The image was taken using one of the front cameras of Perseverance, which monitors the landscape and helps scientists choose places for research.
It is likely that the tangled bundle of rope appeared on the surface of Mars as a result of the landing of the Perseverance rover itself. Previously, the device has already found pieces of scattered equipment around it that helped it land on the Red Planet.
Perseverance arrived on Mars in February 2021 and this process was quite dramatic. The descent stage of the vehicle lowered the rover to the surface, and then flew away to crash at a safe distance from Perseverance.
Thus, the fragments of this stage can be scattered over a large area of the Red Planet.
On the second frame received from the rover , you can see the scale found by “spaghetti” in relation to the Perseverance wheel. On it you can see that the coil of rope is not too large.
The place that the NASA rover is currently exploring is very important for the search for ancient Martian life. Perseverance is currently located in the Jezero crater, where the river delta was located.
But the most mysterious discovery on Mars lately was the “secret entrance to the dungeon.” That's what netizens called the gap in the rocky slope of the Martian hill.
But the intrigue was dispelled after additional photos were published, which show that the “secret entrance” is only 30 cm in height.
