The ex-fiancee of the famous Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, the popular American actress Hayden Panettiere, shocked fans with an unexpected recognition – She has been suffering from drug and alcohol addiction since the age of 15. For this reason, the movie star broke up with the athlete and sent their common daughter Kaya-Evdokia to Kyiv to be raised by her father.
Panettiere shared her revelations in an interview with People magazine. After the doctors told the actress that her liver was failing, she made a firm decision to finally stop using harmful substances. After 8 months of rehabilitation, the celebrity finally felt “free”.
Hayden began acting in films at an early age, and at the age of 15 she was popular with many directors. The schedule of the young actress was very busy. So, one day, someone from the film crew suggested that she try drugs under the pretext that the girl would feel better and she would feel calmer in some of the interviews. Panettiere agreed – I thought that nothing would happen from one test.
Already at the age of 16, the actress could not live normally without drugs and booze. The job saved her, because Hayden made a promise to herself to appear on the site only in a sober state. However, every day the addiction became stronger.
“The situation continued to get out of control. And as I got older, drugs and alcohol became something that I almost could not live without,” – the artist commented.
When Panettiere found out she was pregnant in 2014, she quit using harmful substances. However, after the birth of her daughter, the situation only worsened.
The star of the film “Bring It On” and the TV series “Heroes” began severe postpartum depression. She did not want to take care of the child and spend time with her beloved. It was during that period that the relationship between Panettiere and Klitschko began to crack, which subsequently led to a break.
“He didn’t want to be around me. I didn’t want to be around myself. But with opiates and alcohol, I became happier for a while, and then I felt bad. I was in a cycle of self-destruction … I never had feeling that I want to hurt my child, but I didn't want to spend time with her”, – the celebrity admitted.
Panettiere was aware of what was happening to her life and did not want to harm her daughter. For this reason, in 2018 she makes a difficult decision – sends her daughter to live in Kyiv, where her father and grandmother begin to raise her.
“It was the most difficult thing I have ever had to do. But I wanted to be a good mother for her – and sometimes that means letting go “, – the actress explained.
After that, Hayden went to the hospital and found out about liver problems. Doctors warned that if she continued to abuse, the organ would fail. Panettiere was seriously frightened and firmly decided to give up alcohol and drugs.
After spending 8 months in a rehabilitation center, the star finally found the peace she had dreamed of for so long.
