The driver of the car was surprised to say the least when he learned that his new car had, in fact, been stolen in Belgium.
Last November, a couple decided to change their car and spotted a Peugeot 5008 in a garage in the Pyrénées-Orientales with 60,000 km on the clock. They bought it for 25,000 euros.
But on January 7, the buyer, driving his new car, was subjected to a simple police check and they realized that it had been reported stolen in Belgium.

“We chose to buy from a professional precisely to eliminate all risks. We had confidence,” the driver's partner Marion Morin told Ici Roussillon.
The problem is that the garage owner, who was also allegedly cheated, does not want to reimburse them.
“The vehicle was completely in order administratively. The entire verification process was scrupulously respected. The vehicle was not registered as stolen. This is a fraud of which we were victims”, explained the garage owner to our colleagues at L'Indépendant.
The couple who are accused of receiving stolen goods have filed a complaint for fraud. While waiting for the case to go to court, the Peugeot has been immobilized and the couple no longer has a car.
