Heavy snowstorm starting Wednesday in most regions of Quebec

A snowstorm is expected to hit several regions of Quebec from Wednesday evening until Thursday.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Monday morning announcing that snow accumulations of 15 to 25 centimeters are expected in all areas along the St. Lawrence Valley, from Montreal to Gaspé, and that moderate to strong winds will accompany this snow and should create blowing snow in places.

In the Outaouais, precipitation should be less, 10 to 15 centimeters, but in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, on the whole of Gaspésie and on the North Shore, up to Blanc-Sablon, falls of 30 centimeters of snow are possible.

Environment Canada specifies that in Estrie, a brief period of rain could occur Thursday morning and that there will be a risk of freezing rain during the transition from snow to rain.

The regions of Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Haute-Mauricie and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean did not ;subject to no special weather statements Monday morning.
