It was when he released his hit Pour le plaisir, in the 80s, that his life changed drastically. A success that propelled Herbert Léonardon the front of the musical scene. Today, aged 79, he has many memories of his busy career.

Invited onto the set of Jordan De Luxe this January 21, Herbert Léonard confided in us with an open heart. He spoke, with émotion, of his difficult childhood, his car accident, his coma, but also the tragic death of his sister…

Herbert Léonard: “It's terrible…”

“I had a sister, who was ten years older than me”, he declared, just after having spoken of his childhood that he lived “in poverty”. “She died of generalized cancer, quite young”, he continues with a pang in his heart. “Quite young ? How old was she ?”, asks Jordan de Luxe, surprised.

“She was 36 years old, specifies his guest. An age where we still have so much to live and discover… “It's terrible”, slips the singer. “What point were you at in your career when your sister left, Herbert ?”, asks the show's host.

Herbert Léonard talks about his relationship with his late sister

“I was at the beginning of my career. I must have been 24, well no, 26. Something like that”, remembers Herbert Léonard. The latter was very close to her and liked to spend time by her side. We loved each other very much both. I loved his children very much, because the illness didn't stop him from having four children. We were fine”, he reveals.

He says that it was “when he grew up” and when he became independent from his parents, that he realized he had a sister. “Before, I was more like my sister's baby. She was the one who took care of me, like a toy. A little bit like a doll. But, I realized afterwards that I really had a sister. Unfortunately, she disappeared too quickly. All my love was transferred to her children”, concludes the artist.
