And who says conflagration, necessarily evokes some dragons. The incendiary lizards are finally pushed to the front of the stage and the beginning of the war will be an opportunity for them to make themselves better known to the spectators.

If this first season – set in times of peace – has mainly focused on intrigues of corridors, successions and a dramatic narrative that is more Shakespearian than epic, everything is about to change. It will thus be difficult to memorize the names of all the fire-eaters in activity (who are more than ten), because they are often stored in the niche for lack of battlefields.

Nevertheless, House of the Dragon's finale is a game-changer, and it will become essential to improvise dragonologist to understand the sequence of events. Reason why Ryan Condal, showrunner of the series, immediately clarified the mystery surrounding the new wild dragon that appeared in this last episode.

During an interview with Variety, he identified the terrifying reptile that Daemon Targaryen, played by Matt Smith, tries to charm in his final scene : “This is one of the masterless dragons that live in Mountdragon: Vermithor, the Bronze Fury. […] This is the dragon of King Jaehaerys, the king we saw in the introduction of the first episode and who gave his succession to Viserys.

The creature is said to be one of the largest in Westeros history and is 100 years old when discovered by Daemon. A terrifying monster, made even more unpredictable by the fact that it has not been ruled by anyone since the death of Jaehaerys and whose personality should be as feared as Vhagar, the dragon of Aemond who started all-out war by a impulsive act.

It remains to be seen whether, like his nephew, Daemon will be able to seize a new mount without it having been given to him by right . It seems likely that this is the case since Vermithor would then become one of the only possible opponents of Vaghar, giving the opportunity for the series to offer us a duel at the top between Daemon and Aemond. These also seem destined to confront the views of their likenesses.

Dance of the Dragons and therefore about to begin for good, and if one side (Rhaenyra's) wins in number of flying beasts, the other (Aliscent's) wins in size and strength. A clash of titans and perspective and for which we will have to wait. If the shooting of season 2 was to start for the beginning of 2023, we still do not know its release date which could take longer to arrive, given the battles that are ahead.
