Tight, albeit beautiful, shoes can really ruin your mood. There are proven ways to solve this problem.
When shopping for shoes, it sometimes happens that nice shoes, boots or boots that looked so nice on the foot in the store turn out to be a little tight, and it turns out already at home. If you fell in love with the shoes at first sight and there is no longer a desire to return them back or there is no longer an opportunity to exchange them for a pair for a half size, you can try to break them in. Focus has collected the most common ways to do this.
When choosing a stretching method, consider:
- material from which the shoe is made;
- design features of the shoe;
- decorative elements (quantity, type, location and attachment option);
- type shoe upper material.
An incorrectly chosen breaking-in method can irrevocably spoil the appearance of the product.
If the purchase is too expensive and you cannot change to a larger size, you can use Shoe maker. As a rule, shoe repair shops have special devices for effective stretching, which will help to make shoes more comfortable.
In other cases, you can break and stretch shoes at home. In this, for example, products containing alcohol and a softening component will help.They can be in the form of a liquid, spray or foam and are selected depending on the material being processed. The stretcher must be applied to a cotton pad and lubricate the area that rubs from the inside. After that, put the shoes on socks and walk for an hour. The method is effective for hard shoes made of smooth or patent leather.
If there are no special tools, you can prepare an alcohol solution at home, taking water and alcohol (1: 2), and spray the composition inside the shoe with a spray bottle, then put it on thick socks and wear until the composition evaporates.
Leather shoes can only be treated with this solution from the inside, otherwise the appearance of the product can be damaged.
If there is no urgent need to break in shoes, you must do it gradually, putting on shoes or boots for several hours
strong> daily for a week or two.
You can use shoe lasts, which are sold in specialized stores.
If you need to break in your shoes as quickly as possible, then thick socks. In shoes, such socks should be walked around the house for 2-3 hours, this will help stretch the shoes that are tight.
If the discomfort is localized, you can drop melted wax or paraffin on the problem area and periodically wear the pair for several days.
Leather products can also be expanded in width with water, steam and heat. For the operation, you will need to have a hairdryer and newsprint. Shoes should be soaked with hot water on top, and then stuffed tightly with paper from the inside. Dry the skin with a warm stream of air, and leave the paper inside for another day.
Model shoes made of inside-out leather and nubuck can be stretched with beer or vodka. To do this, a small amount of alcohol-containing drink is poured into the shoes. Next, you need to use paper or pads, but it will be easiest to put a sock on your foot and fit the shoes exactly to the shape of the foot. Instead of improvised products, after the use of which the smell of alcohol may remain, you can use a universal stretching foam with a pleasant aroma.
A distinctive feature of suede shoes is the tendency to stain. Therefore, all funds should be applied from the inside. It is also worth noting that suede products can be stretched faster and stronger than leather counterparts. Therefore, wearing too thick a sock on the foot can cause worn-out shoes to fly off when walking. Pulling back the material will not work.
Faux leather shoes require more careful stretching, because if the leatherette is of poor quality, then the above methods may crack or spoil the appearance of the product. The most suitable way to stretch such shoes would be a regular hair dryer. To do this, you need to wear thick socks, and on them – tight shoes (boots). Warm the place of the foot bend with hot air, wait for complete cooling, and then repeat the procedure if necessary. After drying shoes, lubricate with moisturizing conditioner.
Artificial material also helps stretch fat-containing formulations. To do this, the shoes are lubricated from the inside with vegetable oil, petroleum jelly, fish oil (optional), and then put on a block or a warm sock.
