The Chinese state news agency Xinhua explained the incident that took place on October 22 during the closing session of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China: former head of the party Hu Jintao was escorted out of the hall despite his resistance.

Agency reporter Liu Jiawen claims that the former head of state has not been feeling well lately, but he insisted on being present at the congress. During the meeting, Jintao allegedly became ill, so he was taken to a rest room.

“Now he is much better,” Xinhua assures.

How the former head of China was humiliated

79-year-old Hu Jintao was taken out of the meeting room, where he was sitting in the front row next to current President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. During the meeting, Hu was approached by service personnel and, ignoring his objections, picked him up from his seat. At the same time, Xi Jinping remained completely unperturbed.

2,300 delegates participated in the Congress of the Communist Party, it was held from October 16 to 22. During the congress, Xi paved the way for one-man rule, which required the replacement of about 200 members of the party's Central Committee.

Jintao, who was Jinping's predecessor as head of state, is a supporter of collective leadership of the country. Today's incident of public humiliation of Hu Jintao may indicate that Xi decided to completely purge the opposition.

Speaking at the 20th Congress, Xi Jinping said that in the next five years, China should vigorously develop the economy and resolve the issue with Taiwan.
