I typed this secret code into my phone and it boosted my mobile network!

A simple code used on your smartphone can force your mobile network to improve.

Our smartphones may be more and more advanced, but it is not uncommon for them to have difficulty loading a web page or online content. This can be explained in particular by the area where you are located which prevents your device from having sufficient network to access your contents.

This problem can also come from a lack of connection between your mobile plan and the communication bands available around you. If your smartphone does not pick up a 4G or 5G network, it will be difficult for it to have a sufficient signal to display resource-intensive content.

But did you know that it is possible to force your smartphone to have a better mobile network? The trick is not recent, but it remains little known to the general public since a simple secret code allows you to force your phone to switch to 4G or 5G. To type it, go to the “phone” application your smartphone's base code and type the following code as if you were dialing a number: *#*#4636#*#*. Note that on some devices this code is not valid so try *#36446337#.

A secret menu will then appear and offer you several options. Choose your SIM card. In our example, we only have one, so we choose "Phone information". If you have multiple SIM cards, you should see other options available.

Once you click on “Phone Information”, you will be taken to a rather complicated menu. It must be said that the majority of smartphone users should not have access to this secret menu! To find what interests us, locate the line “Define preferred network type”. Then select the option “LTE”only”. You will then be able to observe that your phone will force it to switch to the communication network with the most data possible.

Congratulations, you have forced your smartphone to use 4G or 5G! However, we recommend disabling this option when you don't need it. To do this, reuse the secret code to access the menu and select the preferred network “NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA”.
