“ I want him to look me in the eye””: Max Boudreau’s father versus Justin Barrow

Nick Boudreau, Max Boudreau's father, wants to know more about the circumstances surrounding his son's death.

Justin Barrow, charged with the first degree murder of Max Boudreau, appeared briefly in Provincial Court in Moncton on Monday. About fifteen relatives of the victim were present, visibly shaken.

Tears were heard as Justin Barrow, in an orange outfit, entered the courtroom and sat down in the dock.

The 42-year-old was due to appear by phone Monday morning. However, at the request of the Crown, the case was adjourned until Monday afternoon so that the accused could attend in person.

The case was adjourned until January 23 at 11 a.m. to set the date for the preliminary hearing. Justin Barrow remains in custody.

Prior to the accused's appearance, Max Boudreau's father, Rick Boudreau, was determined to face Justin Barrow.

Didn't expect to see it here today, but I will. That's the biggest thing I wanted: to be here to see it. To look him in the eye and have him look me in the eye, he said.

Max Boudreau, 24, was last seen Nov. 15 in Moncton.

The past few weeks have been trying for him and his loved ones.

We have no information. […] It is very difficult not to know. We don't know anything. We understand that the RCMP can give us nothing. I understand. They've done an amazing job so far, they've caught it. But that's not enough, he continued.

Max Boudreau was last seen on November 15, outside ;a bar on rue Champlain in Dieppe, around 3 a.m. He was found dead on November 22, in a wooded area near Paris Street in Moncton.
