“I was perfect prey”: two actresses accuse Philippe Caubère of rape when they were minors

In a long interview with the newspaper Libération, the two actresses Agathe Pujol and Pauline Darcel confide in the sexual violence they allegedly suffered at the hands of Philippe Caubère. The man is still, since February 2024, the target of an investigation for sexual assault, rape and corruption of minors.

Agathe Pujol and Pauline Darcel testify during a long interview granted to our colleagues from Libération, relayed by ELLE, about the sexual violence and “the influence” that the 74-year-old man allegedly subjected them to, when they were still in high school.

As a reminder, Pauline Darcel had filed a complaint for “sexual assault” on a minor, early 2023, Agathe Pujol, she, in October 2023. Pauline Darcel is 17 years old, when she sends him a letter to tell him of her “admiration” for him. As for Agathe Pujol, she meets him at 16, she too “fan” of the latter.

“Verres of vodka”

It was during a third meeting, according to her story, that the man who was then 60 years old, “kisses her by grabbing her neck by surprise” and takes her to his room. Pauline Darcel, no longer remembers what happened, suffering from a“traumatic amnesia”. This is a similar scenario that Agathe Pujol then recounts. After feeling “reassured” after their first meeting, during a second date, and after being served “glasses of vodka” by P. Caubère, she explains having been “penetrated with his fingers” , she confesses “It was the first time that someone kissed me or touched me.”

In 2012, the two women claim that he will impose on them “sodomy” or “fellatios” when they refused to let him make love to them. Pauline Darcel, who would decide to stop seeing Philippe Caubère in the summer of the same year, the influence the artist had on Agathe Pujol would last almost a decade. The actress accuses him of repeatedly raping her from the age of 17 to 29, between 2010 and 2022. She also states that he “had her raped” by unknown men recruited on the Internet.

“I was a kid”

“Caubère's defense will be to say that if I stayed for twelve years, I was necessarily consenting”, she says. “I was a kid when I met him, I had no free will. He made me his thing. My fragilities made me the perfect prey, and he knew it”, she reveals.
