How to use Google Docs tabs ?

To use Google Docs tabs, simply click on the new floating icon that appears at the top right.

Then you can create new tabs by clicking on the “+” button.

For example, while writing this article, I can create a new tab for notes, another for remarks, and another tab that includes the list of my sources. And that's not all, since you can also create sub-tabs. So, for example, I can create a sub-tab “Image” in the “Sources” tab.
