Important changes regarding referrals to sanatoriums. They will enter into force on January 1, 2023. What you need to know
What will change in issuing referrals to a sanatorium?
As the “Super Express” portal reminds, from on January 1, 2023, new regulations on referrals for sanatorium treatment come into force. The most important of them is the change of paper referrals to electronic ones. What else will change?
End of paper referrals to sanatoriums
The draft regulation on referrals for sanatorium treatment indicates that two forms of issuing them will be acceptable. A novelty will be e-Referrals, which will be issued and confirmed in the medical information system. The second form will be paper referrals.
Traditional referrals are to be allowed in exceptional situations. Referrals issued to a sanatorium located outside our country are to be such a case. Another situation in which it is allowed is the occurrence of technical problems, e.g. when the doctor issuing the referral does not have access to the system.
The Ministry of Health is introducing a transitional period that will be valid until June 30, 2023. During this time, the doctor will be able to issue a referral in paper or electronic form.
< p>Advantages of e-referral
Referral to a sanatorium in electronic form has many advantages. One of the most important is the fact that a patient applying for treatment will not have to submit a referral to the National Health Fund by post or send it by post, as is the case with a traditional referral.
The patient will receive electronic information about the stage of implementation of the referral. It will be delivered to him in the manner chosen by him. People using the e-Referral to the sanatorium will be able to check information on the status of their referral using:
Internet Patient Account,
SMS messages that the senior will receive to the e-mail address provided by him/her phone number,
or in the form of a letter.
