The force of the explosion was so great that the building of one of the workshops was completely destroyed. A 55-year-old worker has died, and two more women are still being sought.
In the Bulgarian city of Kazanlak, an explosion occurred at the plant of Arsenal, a large firearms and ammunition manufacturer. This was reported by the Bulgarian national television (BNT).
The explosion claimed the life of a 55-year-old man, one of the factory workers. A 43-year-old woman who was near the scene was injured. Doctors diagnosed her with a head injury and took her to the Sofia hospital in serious condition.
Two women, aged 53 and 43, have not yet been found after the explosion. With a high degree of probability, they did not survive. Their bodies may be under the rubble of the building, the journalists noted.
The explosion occurred around 11:00 local time. Law enforcement officers questioned the head of the shift. The appellate prosecutor of the city of Plovdiv, Todor Deyanov, in a conversation with the press, suggested that the explosion occurred due to a violation of technological rules for labor protection.
“Probably, this is a human factor. This is a risky production, if all the technological requirements were met, this would not have happened,” District Prosecutor Dicho Atanasov agreed with Deyanov.
Todor Deyanov specified that the shop produced products with sound and light effects. This is not about goods for combat purposes, but about fireworks. The explosion shattered windows in neighboring houses. Arsenal has no reason to stop work at the moment.
The danger of a second explosion at the Arsenal plant
The force of the explosion was so great that the workshop was completely destroyed, the Bulgarian edition of the BNR adds.
Rescue work is complicated by the danger of a second explosion. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated on the fact of a fatal accident at work, the prosecutors specified.
Immediately after the incident, 2 teams of firefighters, employees of the departmental fire brigade and doctors were immediately sent to the enterprise.
Focus I wrote earlier that Bulgaria refused to send heavy weapons to Ukraine . Sofia will only supply military technical assistance.
