A supporter of Russia from Germany must pay a 4,000 euro fine for a sticker with the letter “Z” on a car. This decision was taken by the court of Hamburg. Deutsche Welle writes about this.

It is reported that at the end of March (about a month after the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine), a 62-year-old resident of Hamburg pasted a sheet of paper with the letter “Z” on the rear window of his car. Then he drove his car through the whole city. The prosecutor said that in this way the motorist expressed support for Russian aggression.

In Germany, the letter “Z” was classified as prohibited, just like in Ukraine. It was recognized as a symbol of the war of conquest and violation of international law, so the public demonstration of such an emblem is a criminal offense.

At first, the owner of the car was fined 3,000 euros, but he decided to challenge the punishment. The court accepted the prosecutor's arguments and increased the amount of the fine to 4,000 euros. At the moment, the decision has not yet entered into force, because the violator still has the right to appeal.
