The Sarmat missile can hit a target at a distance of 18,000 kilometers. The Russian command is talking about the possibility of delivering nuclear warheads to anywhere in the world via the North or South Pole thanks to this missile.

Sarmat is replacing the RS-20V Voyevoda (NATO classification – SS) silo-based strategic missile -18 “Satan”). Serial production of the Sarmat is planned to be launched at the Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant.

Putin said that the first regiment armed with the Sarmats would go on duty at the end of 2022.

Note that the first tests of the Sarmat missile took place on April 20, 2022. The projectile was launched at the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region. As planned by the command, it was supposed to deliver blocks imitating nuclear charges to the Kura test site in Kamchatka.

By the end of the year, the RF Armed Forces want to conduct a second test launch according to the same scenario. Flight design tests are considered completed after at least 5 launches.

In August of this year, the head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, announced the mass production of Sarmat, Yars and Bulava missiles.
