An attacker on a tractor rammed a car and tried to run over pedestrians. He was not stopped by police spikes and the patrol had to use weapons.
A curious incident occurred in the US state of North Carolina. Several police crews gave chase to the runaway tractor. The Watauga Online website writes about this.
The police of the town of Boone received a call that an unknown person on a tractor was ramming a car and trying to run over pedestrians. Patrol officers arrived to find a John Deere tractor trying to crash into the church building.
Noticing the police, the tractor driver rushed to run away. He jumped out on highway 421, but John Deere could not develop more than 30-35 km/h. To break away, the American tried to wag on the road and rammed several more cars, including a police Ford Explorer.
Law enforcement officers used spikes and pierced the front wheels of the tractor, but this did not stop him. When John Deere headed to the local school, the police decided to use their weapons and shot through the rear wheels.
Only then the fugitive tractor stopped and its driver was arrested. The attacker was identified as 43-year-old Ronnie K. Hicks, and the John Deere tractor was stolen. He was charged with theft, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, disobeying the police and assaulting law enforcement officers.
