On June 10, 2022, a 10-year-old deaf and dumb child mute fell into a well in India. Since then, the emergency services have tried by all means to save his life.
On Friday, June 10, 2022, Rahul Sahu, 10, fell into a well in the central state of Chhattisgarh, inIndia. The little boy, who is deaf and mute, was playing in the backyard of his house when he fell into the hole which is 24 meters deep. Vijay Agrawal, District Police Chief from Janjgir said that Rahul Sahu “reacts well” to those who try to help him. Thanks to a camera, a contact was established but the handicap of the young boy makes things more difficult. “As the boy cannot speak or hear, we have a greater challenge ahead”explained Vijay Agrawal. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, said on Twitter that Rahul Sahu was able to eat a banana and he was confident that the child he hopes to see alive is coming out. Unfortunately, the drilling took longer than expected because of the rocks, which are giving a hard time. Fortunately, Rahul Sahu can breathe through an oxygen hose.
A common kind of drama
On Twitter, journalist Rashmi Drolia is constantly relaying news as well as videos and photos of the rescue operation, which is very impressive. Once again, the whole country holds its breath and sends its prayers to little Rahul Sahu. This kind of drama is unfortunately common in India and also recalls the tragic death of Rayan, another little boy who was stuck in a well in Morocco in February 2022. After five days underground, he had not survived.
